A coordinated police operation involving law-enforcement agencies in British Columbia and Manitoba has resulted in the arrest in Langley of a man wanted by Winnipeg police.

Tresor Horimbere was listed as No. 4 on the Bolo Program’s list of Canada’s most wanted individuals in connection with an outstanding first-degree murder charge.

According to information released by police, Horimbere was arrested in Langley on July 30.

Police said the arrest was led by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, with assistance from CFSEU-BC investigators and the RCMP’s Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team.

Police described the operation as a high-risk arrest and reported that Horimbere was taken into custody safely.

The arrest followed cooperation between CFSEU-BC and the Winnipeg Police Service. According to police, members of Manitoba’s Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit subsequently travelled to British Columbia and returned Horimbere to Winnipeg.

Horimbere faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the July 2024 death of 22-year-old Mohamed Yusuf Abdullahi in Winnipeg. He remains in custody.

The charge against Horimbere is an allegation that has not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded to a reported shooting at a soccer complex on July 13, 2024, where Abdullahi was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said he was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Winnipeg police have said Abdullahi had finished playing and was leaving the event when he was shot, and that investigators did not believe the shooting was random.

Police have previously announced charges against two other individuals in connection with Abdullahi’s death. Those charges are also allegations and have not been proven in court.

For the Langley community, the immediate result was straightforward: a high-risk arrest was completed safely, and a coordinated interprovincial police operation came to an end.
