BREAKING: Bill introduced today in the BC Legislature would prohibit MLAs from double-dipping with city council jobs.

It was introduced by Esquimalt MLA Darlene Rotchford, who resigned her seat on Council after winning her seat in the 2024 provincial election – just as several other new MLAs have done.
The outlier is the Township’s very own Misty Van Popta, who insists on attempting both jobs at the same time. The question is, will she try to hang on until being disqualified from council by this bill, or will join her fellow MLAs in focusing fully on the new job?
